Fractional Laser Treatments

Fractional laser treatments are a relatively new type of laser treatment to treat conditions such as wrinkles and acne scars.  During the treatment, only part of the skin is treated.  You can think of the procedure as similar to aerating your lawn.  The laser ablates (destroys) very small columns of skin and leaves normal skin between the columns.  This helps your body heal very quickly and minimizes complications.  While fractional treatments are fairly new, the laser itself has been around for a long time.  The laser, called a CO2 laser, is one of the lasers that is used for laser resurfacing which has been available for many years.  While traditional CO2 laser resurfacing is very effective, there is a much longer healing process and an increase in possible complications.

With the UltraPulse Encore laser, we perform treatments called ActiveFX™, DeepFX™ and TotalFX™.  ActiveFX helps with dark spots and fine lines.  DeepFX helps more with deeper wrinkles and scars.  We often do both procedures at the same visit which is called TotalFX.

While some other physicians in the Indianapolis area offer ActiveFX, we are the only facility offering DeepFX and TotalFX.  There are other types of fractional laser treatments available but most of them do not compare to DeepFX and TotalFX.  Make sure you see real before and after pictures taken by the physician who is doing your procedure.  Click the links below for more information.
